The Holy Name Society is a confraternity of the Most Holy Names of God and Jesus that promotes reverence to the Sacred Names of God and Jesus Christ, obedience and loyalty to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church, and the personal sanctification and holiness of its members. The Society came to be associated with the Dominican Friars after Blessed John of Vercelli (1205-1283) was asked by Pope Gregory X to promote devotion to the Holy Name.
The Holy Name Society is committed to helping its members grow in holiness through devotion to the most Holy Name of Jesus. Members of this fraternity are called to be leaders, to cleanse themselves in the sacrament of penance, strengthen themselves with the most Holy Eucharist, nourish their souls on Sacred Scripture, increase their desire for divine love through prayer, and lead their families, friends, and coworkers to Christ Jesus by their acts of charity and devotion. Holy Name men are called to contribute to the evangelization mission of the Church in the name of God and Jesus Christ.
The St. Michael the Archangel Holy Name meets on the Monday following the second Sunday of each month. The meeting is held at 7:00 p.m. and are held in the Parish Meeting Room below the main church.
The Holy Name Mass is celebrated during the 10:30 Mass in the upper church on the second Sunday of each month. The Holy Name invites all parishioners to join them to pray the rosary at 9:45 prior to the Mass.

Blessed John of Vercelli, OP (c. 1205-1283), Founder of the Holy Name Society was known for his tireless energy and his commitment to simplicity, Blessed John made personal visits - typically on foot - to almost all the Dominican houses, urging his fellow friars to strictly observe the rules and constitutions of the Order. He was tapped by two popes for special tasks. Pope Gregory X enlisted the help of Bl. John and his fellow Dominicans in helping to pacify the States of Italy that were quarreling with one another. Bl. John was also called upon to draw up a framework for the Second Council of Lyons in 1274.
It was at that council that he met Jerome of Ascoli (the man who would later become Pope Nicholas IV), then serving as Minister General of the Franciscans. Sometime later the two men were sent by Rome to mediate a dispute involving King Philip III of France. Once again, Bl. John was able to draw on his negotiating and peacemaking skills. Following the Second Council of Lyons, Pope Gregory selected the Dominicans to spread devotion to the name of Jesus. Bl. John took the task to heart, requiring that every Dominican church contain an altar of the Holy Name; groups were also formed to combat blasphemy and profanity.
